Windows 7

Fingers crossed again

After the dog that is Vista it’s not before time that Micro$oft have produced a replacement operating system.

Techradar have done a fairly comprehensive comparison of 7 vs Vista vs XP and it really seems to compare favourably. Whether or not to go for it is a decision you might want to make quickly…the reduced price preorder option runs out within the next few weeks.

As a Mac user my favourite feature has always been the Micro$oft ‘Help’ getout clause…you know…the one that advises you to ‘please consult your system administrator’ when something simple has gone wrong, but the root cause is buried so deep under layer upon layer of patched code that only a fully-certified M$ tech has any hope of finding a remedy? It appeared in Win’95, Win’98, 2000, XP and Vista and there’s no reason to expect it won’t figure in the new one.
I’ve yet to meet a domestic user who keeps a sysadmin at home. Unless, of course, that particular piece of ‘Help’ simply means ‘you’re on your own, mate’.
